A Stafford County Cemetery Book is planned!

As the Stafford County Cemetery Committee (SCCC) surveys Stafford’s cemeteries, the information gathered is recorded on county tax maps.  The information is also kept in digital and hard copy inventories. The SCCC web site is an additional source for this information and periodically up dated with new information.

 

The SCCC would like to provide our survey information in one other form. The Committee would like to put our information into book form.  The book would be a convenient resource for those interested in Stafford’s cemeteries and genealogy.

 

A number of years ago one of our charter members, Homer Musselman, published Stafford County Virginia Veterans and Cemeteries, an inventory of Stafford’s cemeteries. This book has been a great help and resource for the SCCC as we revisit these cemeteries in order to gain additional information. This book is now out of print and much of the location information in the book has become obsolete. As Stafford County has grown, many of these cemeteries have become difficult to find as a result of changes in road configurations and the disappearance of land marks. A new book would update this information as well as provide additional information. Photographs are also planned for the book.

 

The SCCC is a volunteer group and is not funded by Stafford County.  The Committee, in cooperation with the county finance department, have established a SCCC account for donations. Donations will go towards the publishing costs for the Stafford County Cemetery book and will be used solely for that purpose.
